When selecting materials for the library there are some criteria or characteristics that must be met to ensure high quality items are chosen. These criteria help the librarian look at different features of the material to be sure it will meet the needs of students. Below is the selection criteria checklist will be used to choose materials for the library.
When evaluating websites and databases, a rating scale is used to measure the quality of criteria. The criteria are:
- has current information
- has accurate information
- is user-friendly with easy navigation and all links working
- is visually appealing with attractive graphics and layout
- is relevant to the curriculum or students’ interests
